Uckfield & District Preservation Society
Bridge Cottage is a lovely old timber framed Wealden Hall House in the centre of Uckfield.
Architects are working on a renovation scheme to make this a town heritage centre and the headquarters of our Society.
Nutley Mill on Ashdown Forest has been restored by the Society and is open to the public. On fine and windy days the mill still turns and grinds flour.
There is a small collection of milling and farm equipment.
An archive of photographs, maps, books and artefacts is carefully stored away, waiting to be put on public display in the renovated heritage centre.
Our Planning and Environment committee examines planning applications in conservation areas to promote and maintain a well designed built environment.
Our Local History group produces books, holds winter talks and summer outings.
